I'll be damned. That doctor did call me back.
He said that my EEG was clear, which is really good news. It moves epilepsy, the kind that would be really debilitating, further down the list of diagnoses. But he still doesn't want me to drive to Rockville until he knows what's wrong with me, and he's willing to write a letter to my employer that says so.
I've never had a doctor call me back the same day before. It probably means I'm gonna die!

Or, maybe he's a really good doctor. Either way, it sounds like you're getting some proper care for a change.

Does the insurance company offer short-term disability insurance as part of your benefits?
And, you do realize that at this point you cannot go back to the ranks of the uninsured. If you must leave your current job because of your health, the Hub's got enough sense to know he's got to step in, right? Planning for that contingency and all?
'Cause I don't think any of us could stand to see you lose this chance to get decent treatment.
