Middle management is a crappy job in any industry, but I think in real estate it's especially hard. Tuesday the Uber-boss was in and was telling me that the owner of the company is planning to raise prices over at the other property my boss represents.

"I tried to talk to him about why this might not be such a good idea. I told him your boss isn't going to like it....

but he didn't want to hear it. He told me to go ahead and do it and so -" here she broke off and made a salute and then rolled her eyes, "Your boss is going to flip out of her gourd."

"Oh dear." I said.

Never mind the mixed metaphors, it's probably true.

"I have no idea how I'm going to tell her." the Uber-boss went on.

"Well, that's okay. I happen to know that she's planning to hit you up for additional vacation time soon anyway. So you'll be even." I offered.

"WHAT! Vacation -no!" She dropped her head into her hands.

I'm really glad I was off today. As it is, I have to go in and work 3 hours tomorrow afternoon. Hope they've got it all worked out by then.

We're very likely to lose two of our contracts at the place I'm working. That'll be great. Everybody will be mad....and since I'm the low person on the food chain, I might as well just make up a sign that says "kick me."
