The Competition is Fierce! [Job Outside The Box]
It was hot today. Too hot for the ceiling fans to do any good, too hot to cook, too hot to run the vacuum ( though I did. Otherwise there would be tumbleweeds of dog hair blowing around in the nominal breeze created by the ceiling fans), too hot for anything but a tank top and a skirt. I even walked into town, to go the the mailbox without putting on a blouse with sleeves...so, if you know me real well, you know it was HOT.
On the way to the mailbox I stopped in to the new shop being partly run by our neighbor, Anya ( that's not her real name). She and her business partner decided to rent space to craftspeople and they had some lovely items in there....
and Avon. This shop is two houses down the street from my house. It turns out that Anya's partner is also an Avon lady with 7 years of experience. Terrific. So now people in this neighborhood can just walk into a nice air conditioned shop and place their Avon order any time the place is open, plus, anyone who happens to stop by there can place an order....and unless she somehow gives them really crappy service they'll probably stick with her.
Anyway, I introduced myself to The Partner and told her I was also an Avon lady. We had a friendly conversation. By and large, Avon Ladies are nor pushy people - that's why we're selling Avon as opposed to, say, used cars. She asked me if I canvassed nearby homes and I said I did. Perhaps she was thinking of doing the same thing and now won't. Hmm. I think it's time to try to expand my market though.....
I have an organizing job tomorrow and the potential for another one. A cleaning job on Thursday. I typed up about 5 estimates for The Hub. So it feels like things might be going somewhere.
I wonder where?
