My hair is going on a job interview. By itself. Well, I mean, I guess I'm going with it.
It's not my job interview. It's Ishmial's....like the guy from Moby Dick. Only he's not a whaler - not in the traditional sense, anyway. He's a hairdresser, the brother of one of my co-workers. The thing is that he has been doing braids, extensions, and other types of "ethnic" styles, but the salon at which he has applied for work has a mostly white client base. They've had to turn away customers because they don't have anybody there now with his set of skills, so they'd like to hire him. But they want to make sure he can meet the needs of their existing clients as well.....
And he's from Detroit - he just moved here last month to help his brother in law out with his business, but that's just part-time. "So where am I gonna find a white woman who's going to let me cut her hair in two weeks?" he asked his sister in a paniced phone call.
"Got you covered" she promised him.
My reputation for giving people the shirt off of my back, or, in this case, the hair off of my head, precedes me.
I'll let you know how it turns out.

Donna - you just got an expensive haircut and you want another?
You might want to go to Laura at Envy in Ellicott City. She always does a fabulous job.
...I mean, if Ishmael doesn't work out for you.

You mean I can't have braided extensions? Maybe I'll get me a weave. Just call me Mr. Ray.

Rob - believe it or not, it's actually a very different cut...it's layered, and layers turn under at the ends (old cut that i liked better didn't have all the layers and curled out.) not that a man cares to figure out the difference! anyway, i wanted it shorter, but the guy didn't seem comfortable doing that.
I think I'll try Laura -- she always does a great job with Theresa's haircuts!

Donna - Don't feel bad, sometimes Rob can't tell that I even got a haircut at all. ;-)
