How Do You Spell Relief? [Job Outside The Box]
Yesterday, we finally dropped all the photos off at the gallery. It was great. Though the whole time I was driving them down there I was about to suffer a nervous collapse. The Hub had everything all carefully wrapped in towels and stuff so the corners wouldn't get dinged. I was sure we were going to have an accident and all that would be left of us were 3 lighthouse pictures and two pictures of squash.
Most of the members of the CMPG were there, looking similarly stressed and relieved. We milled around the gallery for awhile, talking to the manager, taking care of last minute details. Then we all went out on the sidewalk & stared at each other. Like, "Okay, now what do we do?"
Well, I have to put together a cheese tray, which will be a snap after all the worry about the prints. The Hub worked on framing for 4 days straight. Now he's sitting in front of the television watching "Zulu" on the VCR. He looks kind of out of it.
In other news, I think we have some kind of critter living under our sink. Vio-kitty is spending an aweful lot of time on a little cat "stake out" in that area of the kitchen. I wonder if I ought to buy a mouse trap? Well, no, I'd probably just manage to shut my finger in it. Besides it might not be a mouse. It could be a snake or something.
Today, while I was in the drive through at Wendy's with Mrs. C.B. a bee flew into my car. I couldn't freak out. So I just sat there, like a rabbit that had "gone tharn" in Watership Down I couldn't think of a single thing to do. It landed on Mrs. C.B.'s handicapped tag which was hanging from the rear view.
Then it flew right back out the window! How lucky was that?!
Mrs. C.B. turned in her drivers license today. She said it was hard for her to do, even though she acted, up until that time, like it was no big deal. She got an I.D. card instead. Even though she can't see well enough to drive, it was still hard, since she was giving up the idea that it would improve. I can totally understand that. It's one thing to say, "I don't drive" it's another thing to say, "I can't drive." Getting old requires a lot of grace.
You know, she bought me a birthday gift? It was a blender! I was thrilled! I've needed a blender for years!
"But how did you ever go out to get it?" I asked her.
"My former daughter-in-law took me. It was a real clandestine thing, I'll tell you, since we had to keep it at her house so you wouldn't find it when you were cleaning!"
I can't believe she went to all that trouble. What a blessed person I am, to have clients who are also friends!
What a nice lady Mrs CB is!
