"...for a bird of the air will carry your voice, or some winged creature tell the matter..." --Ecclesiastes 10:20

Who is this mysterious winged creature? Light hearted as the air, she laughes at world, the wise, and herself - but watch out if you tread on the humble or the meek. You may find This Winged Creature has told the matter...

Chia Pet Pays Phone Bill! [Job Outside The Box]

Yesterday, after finishing my jobs, I asked The Hub if he wanted to come with me to one of the thrift shops in PA where I hang out looking for stuff to put on ebay.

"Sure" he said, which didn't surprise me since the place is right near a store for woodworkers.

So we were wandering around the place. I always look at housewares, kitchen ware and dishes since that is the stuff I am most likely to get "the winkle" about, and heck, I'm even starting to know a little bit about pottery, etc, at this point....

The Hub still tends to think of my ebay activity as some adult version of a little girl playing house - though he has had a growing respect for "the winkle" and my whole ebay "hobby" since the money it brought in pulled our fat out of the financial fire more than once. So instead of just shaking his head in amazement at the things I pick up, he's been trying to get into it.

I was back in the housewares section contemplating a set of Canonsburg lunch plates ( which I did pick up) when The Hub said, "Hey, what do you think about a Chia Pet that looks like Jerry Garcia?"

"THAT would be ideal" I laughed, thinking it was just something he had thought up. ( If you know The Hub, you know this is the kind of thing he would think up)

"Well, here." he said. And there it was. It even had the box, which said it was "The Original Pot Head". Specifically, it was "The Grateful Head" ceramic pottery which grows chia. "You really think this will sell?"

"Oh, absolutely!"

I bought it for $4.00. I forget what I started the bidding at, but I wanted to put a buy it now price on because i was listing it so late at night. I think some people don't like to wait on an auction to end if it's going to do so at midnight eastern - though of course that's only 9:00 on the west coast. There was nothing else like it on ebay so I was sort of "at sea" about what to charge. But I needed about $25.00 to pay the rest of the phone bill, so that struck me as a good number.

When I woke up this morning a guy in Michigan had bought it AND paid for it. Talk about The Lord working in mysterious ways!!

Maybe The Hub is getting the winkle himself. He says he wants to go to a flea market tomorrow....we'll see if he means it when the alarm goes off at 7:00 a.m.!!
