"...for a bird of the air will carry your voice, or some winged creature tell the matter..." --Ecclesiastes 10:20

Who is this mysterious winged creature? Light hearted as the air, she laughes at world, the wise, and herself - but watch out if you tread on the humble or the meek. You may find This Winged Creature has told the matter...

Well, that's humbling [Gardening]

Remember all the trouble I went to over my little tomato seedlings? Well, I have a really great looking tomato plant. It looks 10 times better than the others. It's taller, stronger, and obviously more vigerous.

The trouble is, it's growing out of one of the air holes in my compost bin!!! Yep, it just showed up, all on it's own, the son of a salad tomato.

Now, I know that I ought to transplant it into the garden. If for no other reason then that a plant growing in pure compost is not likely bear much fruit - that's the way of tomato plants. But since it - the plant - went to all that trouble to find itself the patch of sunlight and grow out of such a small space another part of me feels like I should just let it alone out of sheer respect for Mother Nature.

Sigh.

I once had a tomato plant in my front yard, because an animal got into a trash bag I'd put out on trash night and scattered the garbage everywhere. I picked everything EXCEPT an old rotten, black, tomoto. Come summer, voila! A fresh tomato at dinnertime every day!

Maybe next year we should all just plant a store-bought tomato instead of going to the troubling of starting from seed?

I am not a fan of growing tomatoes. The plants smell, and so do the fruit. I'd just as soon let someone who likes the growing part do the growing part, and I'll pick them up from that person's roadside stand.
