Lumbering Along [Dog Blog]
I guess that Winston, our mastiff is slowing down now that he's six. He's in good health, having gotten over the infection in his tail. But he sleeps more, and has more grey in his muzzle and no longer jumps up to do "dancing with mastiffs" with The Hub in the kitchen.
Hmm. That sounds like an idea for a reality show. Instead of celebrities trying to dance with professional dancers they could try to waltz with mastiffs. The couple with the least amount of slobber on both parties could win.
He was never big on "taking a walk" since he doesn't really walk too fast. He basically just kind of lumbers along. But he still has to stop and sniff everything like any other dog. Lately he's become obsessed with the mailbox. I guess it's become a hot spot for "pee mail" with neighborhood dogs, which is kind of funny when you think about it.
The Hub though, doesn't find it all that funny, since he's the one who usually takes him out and it's gotten a lot colder in the mornings. The other day I heard him hollaring, "For God's sake, Winston! Will you quit sniffing the mailbox? It still smells like a mailbox!"
Sigh.
No wonder our neighbors always pretend not to see us when we wave.
