"...for a bird of the air will carry your voice, or some winged creature tell the matter..." --Ecclesiastes 10:20

Who is this mysterious winged creature? Light hearted as the air, she laughes at world, the wise, and herself - but watch out if you tread on the humble or the meek. You may find This Winged Creature has told the matter...

A Note from Winston [Dog Blog]

Mom's upset. So I'm writing this entry for her. She's gonna be surprised. It's hard to hit these little tiny keys with my big paws. I tried using my nose. But the keyboard got all slimey. That woudn't make Mom feel better. She says I'm an intellegent dog. She says I'm smarter than I look. But I don't think she knows I can use the computer. Surprise.

This is what happened. Dad gave me and Vio-kitty our flea treatments. I didn't care. It just smells weird. Humans do lots of stuff that smells weird. But it made Vio-kitty get sick. She was tired and scrunched up all the time and didn't want to watch the fish. She was cross and didn't want to play chase. Even when I said I would be the chasee.

Dad took Vio-kitty to the vet-vet. I don't like the vet-vet all that much. But I didn't have to go. Dad thought Vio-kitty was just gonna have Vio-kittens. But it was bad news. There were gonna be Vio-kittens but because Vio-kitty is really really sick they probably already died. Vio-kitty has feline luekemia. There are 3 different kinds of feline luekemia ( I did a web search.) Vio has the kind where she was born with it but nobody could tell until she turned 3. Then, when Dad gave her the flea treatment, it was what the humans called a "trigger" so she got sick.

Tomorrow, Vio-kitty has to go to the vet-vet to be spayed. She's so sick she isn't even scared, though Mom is really upset and sad. Dad is too. I want Vio-kitty to be okay. She's my companion animal. If something happens to her it will just be me and those damn fish. Dad got a medicine from the vet called interferon. He puts it in Vio-kitty's water. She says it doesn't taste bad. The medicine cannot cure Vio-kitty, but it might keep her from getting any more sick. Vio-kitty can never go outside again or see her boyfriends ( I didn't like them anyway. I thought they were No Good) We cannot bring other cats home, no matter how much we like them, because then the new cats could get sick too. Also, Vio-kitty might only get worse. No one knows.

Mom and Dad did go on vacation though. Spike's Mom took care of me and Vio-kitty and the fish. I hate the fish. They eat each other. Gross.

Spike is my friend who is a rotwieller and doberman pinscher mix. At first we were both scared of each other because we are both a big dog. Now we know we are the same size. Except Spike doesn't have as big a head as me. Nobody has as big a head as me.

Spike's Mom works for the humane society where animals go if they need to find a home. She always smelled good and brought over a lot of toys and treats. She also brought different kinds of food for Vio-kitty to try. This is because humans are nice and make Donations. Vio-kitty did eat some of the food and had more energy. Mom calls this a "posative thing".

After Mom and Dad got back from vacation this is what they smelled like: the little kids, and all the people from Family Dinner ( which is where I mostly get locked in the office but it's okay because then the little kids come play with me and I get leftovers), salt water, sand, coins, ( Mom said they went to a place called a casino where she won $4.75. But I don't know what this means) road food, suntan lotion, New Jersey, dirty laundry, and the sweaty smell humans have when something stressful happens to them. This is because Mom got a thing called a Speeding Ticket on the way home.

Also, Mom has a really bad sunburn on her tail. Maybe I'm not supposed to talk about that. Humans are really funny about their tails. They don't like you to sniff their tails. Dogs don't mind. But this had to do with the Speeding Ticket. Mom said her bathing suit rode up and she fell asleep in the sun, and the sun burned her tail. Humans would be a lot better off if they had fur. Then she really wanted to get home so she could put Noxema on it to make it feel better. So she was speeding in the car-car. And if you speed in the car-car it's being a Bad Human. If you get caught a cop gives you a Speding Ticket. I think that must be like getting your collar shaken and getting yelled at. Maybe it's worse. It might be like getting hit with a rolled up newspaper, which happened to a dog I used to know in Gardner. Mom wouldn't tell the cop she had sun burn on her tail, even though he asked if there was any reason why she was speeding in the car-car.

I love my humans, but I don't always understand them.

Now that Mom and Dad are home again, I can't sleep on the sofa any more. I have a question. When Mom went to Work Dad took all the sofa cushions off, moved the sofa away from the wall, re-arranged the book cases, sprayed stuff, took the rug away and moved the plants. If I did all that stuff I would be a Bad Dog and in Big Trouble with a lot of yelling "BAD DOG" going on. I was afraid when Mom got home she would yell "BAD HUMAN" at Dad. But you know what she did? She gave him a kiss and was happy. When he moves the seat cushions, furniture, and plants that's called "housecleaning." When I do it, it just means I'm a Bad Dog. Does anybody know why?
