"...for a bird of the air will carry your voice, or some winged creature tell the matter..." --Ecclesiastes 10:20

Who is this mysterious winged creature? Light hearted as the air, she laughes at world, the wise, and herself - but watch out if you tread on the humble or the meek. You may find This Winged Creature has told the matter...

The Return of Cyrano D'Bird [Bird Blog]

"Look up and to your right." I told The Hub as he came into the carport at the old house. He was getting ready to cut the grass. "That's the new robin's nest. Do you think that's Birda?"

He looked up. He was standing right under it. "I don't know." The Hub has a really loud voice, and he spoke out heartily, "Hi there!"

Whereupon the bird in the nest flew at his head. "Hmm. Whoever it is - not in a good mood." I said.

"Jeeze! I got winged." The Hub said, looking around.....

Our eyes followed the bird to the neighbors fence post where he lighted, flipping his tail feathers in indignation.

"Oh! That's not Birda! That's Cyrano! Look how orange his chest is."

"Oh, yeah. I forgot how big he is. Lord, that's a big robin. Well, you can't blame a guy for defending his home, I guess. I hope he's not gonna be too freaked out by the lawn mower."

I don't know if he was or not. I went to work. The Hub was keen to get the grass cut before the rain started. We're expecting a rainy night and a rainy day tomorrow. Which is good, actually. Rainfall is way below average so far in Maryland and the last thing we need is another drought.

I hope The Hub didn't get pecked. Seriously, Cyrano is one tough looking robin. If he were a guy he'd have a tatoo of a bulldog on his well muscled arm and a perenial scowl on his face. He must be attractive to female robins though.

I don't even understand love in my own species, let alone some other species.
