"...for a bird of the air will carry your voice, or some winged creature tell the matter..." --Ecclesiastes 10:20

Who is this mysterious winged creature? Light hearted as the air, she laughes at world, the wise, and herself - but watch out if you tread on the humble or the meek. You may find This Winged Creature has told the matter...

The Little Green Drama Queen [Bird Blog]

On Sunday, Friend Will and Jenne came up to have supper with us. They hadn't met Kendi yet, but didn't seem surprised that our house has been taken over by a 9 inch long parrot.

As for Kendi, she was just enthralled with our guests, and spent the whole dinner looking at them with great interest. I suppose humans are just as entertaining to parrots as parrots are to humans. She was especially keen to make friends with Friend Will, and he fed her little bits of seed and told her what a pretty bird she is. Who knew she was so susceptible to flattery?

She sat on his arm a little bit, but it was when he could see her well that she really went into action....

chattering, squeaking, laughing, "peek-a-bird"-ing, bobbing, climbing everything in sight, taking on her little green bell in a fight worthy of being telivised on ESPN, rolling over, and hanging off my shoulder with one foot. What a little green drama queen! She was life of the party, absolutely thrilled to be the center of attention.

The next day, when I took her cage cover off, she just looked up at me and yawned. And yawned and yawned again! "Well, that's what happens, you party animal." I told her as she stepped blearily out onto her perch. She had really tired herself out.

"I put her on my shoulder and we sat down to read the paper after you left for work" The Hub told me the next day. "She was really being good. I couldn't believe it. I thought she was interested in the fish tank. After awhile, I looked up and saw that she had tucked her head under her wing and was fast asleep. So I just gently put her back in the cage so she could finish her nap"

What a diva!

Kendi is an awesome bird. I also never knew that pet birds could be so interesting, engaging and fun. What a cool familar spirit to have.
