"...for a bird of the air will carry your voice, or some winged creature tell the matter..." --Ecclesiastes 10:20

Who is this mysterious winged creature? Light hearted as the air, she laughes at world, the wise, and herself - but watch out if you tread on the humble or the meek. You may find This Winged Creature has told the matter...

"Learning to Fly" [Bird Blog]

earthbound misfits.jpg

"A fatal attraction holding me fast, how
Can I escape this irresistible grasp?
Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted Just an earth-bound misfit, I"

-Pink Floyd/ Learning to Fly / Momentary Lapse of Reason

These guys won't be earth-bound or "nest bound" for very much longer. For one thing, they hardly all fit in there! Birda's second brood is lookin' good. A lot of these look like her, though. Most of them have some white around their eyes like Birda does, which makes her easy to spot. But when these guys are out of the nest and loose their spots I may have trouble telling her apart from her kids!

OK - what does it mean when the very first thing that popped into my head upon seeing the headline for this entry, before reading anything else whatsoever, was the song that you quoted?

And why do I suddenly have the title "Several Species of Small, Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving With a Pict" stuck in my head?

I love the Pink Floyd reference! I'm surprised they survived their reunion, and that they sounded so good. Did you hear that their cd sales have jumped since Saturday, or that they are donating the extra profits to charity because they don't want to profit from the performance for LIVE8?

Another song this reminds me of is "Preparing to Fly," by The Waterboys, on the cd DREAM HARDER.

"I'm preparing to fly under my own steam
I'm preparing to fly into a dream"
