The Shoemaker's Children... [All Things Housing]
Okay, it's official. The kitchen project is Getting On My Nerves. I went out and did grocery shopping today - yes, in the snow. People do it all the time in Massachusetts, though it has to be said that the budget for roads up there seems to include money to do more than wait to see if it melts. I came back with $124 worth of groceries (yikes!!) and no place to put them. Not only was there no place to set the bags down, since the countertop is still not up yet, there weren't even enough places in cabinets to put things since the previous countertop had storage underneath it.
And when will The Hub be able to start work on the project again?....
He doesn't know. It all depends on his paid work: how fast he can do it, how quickly it gets done, and how much it tires him out. Closet relocation, I believe, is the current project. You'd be amazed at how much trouble it is to relocate your closet. Or maybe you wouldn't be. And anything that involves carrying around large pieces of drywall, like this job does, is very tiring. The Hub isn't any spring chicken any more.
"I see our neighbor, Shacker, working all the time over there! He makes me feel so lazy!" The Hub exclaimed.
"Shacker is 20 years younger than you. You worked like that when you were his age. I remember."
"God, I wonder if he realizes he's gonna run out of steam at some point in his life? You think I ought to tell him?"
"I wouldn't." I said. So, evidently, The Hub just waved when he left.
At least the snow IS supposed to melt tomorrow. We'll see.
Aren't you glad you're not barefoot?
