Frogs in Limbo.... [All Things Housing]
Our counter offer was rejected by the potential buyers -or, at least, by their bank. That's what we heard from our realtors this morning. It makes me think that the bidders were just sort of testing the waters to see if we were desperate enough to accept their offer.
Well, we were at least desperate enough to consider it. But Jeff and Susan both felt the same: that we'd be practically giving the house away at that rate, and they feel they have some very good leads on it. Who knows what will happen? We are lowering the price yet again - all the way down to $223,000. After all, each month that we keep it, it's costing us the mortgage payment, the power bill, the water bill and soon The Hub's time in keeping the grass cut. Heck, as expensive as gasoline is now, I'll have to budget for fuel to run the mower!
We had certainly hoped to get more for the home....
but, realistically, somewhere in the 220's is what I always expected to sell it for. If only we'd been quicker to put it on the market! (If wishes were horses then beggars would ride)
The realtors say that there has always been a high level of interest in the house, and such a sharp reduction in the price will catch the attention of people who may have had an eye on it. Lets hope so. I can't help but feel a little panic, knowing that we let an offer go, even a ridiculously low one. I'm not sure I have the nerve for all this stuff any more.
I wonder if I can put a clause in the contract, when we eventually sell it, to prevent the new owners from disturbing Birda's nest for the brooding season?
TEA --- Gosh, we love the house but it never occurred to us to offer less. The price seemed quite fair and the house worth it. If only we could swing it, Birda would be assured of her home!!!
